Fungi growing on dead organic matter release compounds that create a thin, circular, or arc-shaped band of dead grass or of rapidly growing, dark green grass. The band's diameter increase each year. Toadstools or mushrooms sometimes appear in the band. No practical control is available. Mow, water, and fertilize the lawn to mask disease symptoms.
